
Downloading fonts is not tricky - be sure to pick fonts for your operating system and follow directions for installing the fonts - then they should work in your word processing program or other software.
WATCH OUT FOR POP-UPS - most free font sites are riddled with pop-ups....

Fonts for Kids - a large collection which includes a trace font and lots of fun and thematic fonts (especially Disney-like fonts and others)
Billy Bear's Fonts - includes handwritten fonts, a tracing font and holiday theme fonts (windows only):

One Scrappy Site - a collection of fonts and links to other font resources - start with the list sorted by theme!
Blue Vinyl Fonts - large collection - free fonts include a variety of handwriting fonts (including trace and others) but you will have to go through pages of fonts to find them
Larabie Fonts - huge collection, many are not free, but use "free" as your search word and you will find many including a Zaner Bloser Primary Print font.
Kat's Fun Fonts - lots of fonts and "dings" - Dingbats are like fonts except instead of letters, when you type a letter it will make a picture (dingbat) on your screen or document
